Dear MouseOwners, it has been far too long (in my mind at least :scary: ) since I have been moved to post a greenban/greenbanned poll. Thanks to Daitcher's latest thread, I have been so moved!
Please rate the DVC based on your personal experiences. Only rate DVC experiences, including room conditions, check-in time, location, views, cleanliness, DVC CM encounters, DVC resort food, community halls, etc. I am also asking for a cumulative rating based on all of your past DVC experiences. Include MS and guide encounters as well.
The goal is a gestault overview of the DVC as a whole.
Please feel free to post your years of Membership (also another poll). ===> http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10511
As well as if you think the DVC has (overall) improved/stayed the same/or declined since you joined. ===> http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10512
Many thanks!

Tony,
Love your polls. I've only been a member 6 months, so my opinion won't count for much to some people. I have had four stays at various DVC's in the last three years on rented points. As with many renters, it convinced me to buy. Thanks for putting this out.

I voted fair. I base that on my experince with various other Timeshares in Orlando and elsehwere. My other two Timeshares are far superior to DVC, IMO thus the fair vote for DVC.
Three years ago I would have voted good.

I voted very, very good. My other point of comparison is my mother's timeshare on Hilton Head - no comparison in quality, program, or service. I gather the major timeshares give DVC more competition, but I've not experienced them first hand.

We rated very very good also. We have stayed at several timeshares in Orlando and all of them have had issues. Nothing that would make me stay away from them, just the standards. Unit getting older and showing the signs of wear. Absolutely filthy unit that was so bad that we asked for a different unit. Requesting a handicap accessible unit, only to booked on a third floor with no elevator. Food under the sleeper sofa. All of which were corrected. Some so large that they were a city unto thereselves and it seemed that we always got stuck in the older neigborhood or the unit farthest from the pool/ activity center. They all touted their proximity to Disney World and the convienience, some even came close to giving the kind of service that we have experienced at DVC. The area that every other time share falls short of is the marketing and selling of their units. They all ,so far, have had the hard sell approach. Thankfully, we did not experience that at DVC. Would I buy at DVC with the hope of staying at a non-DVC, no way. I have other time shares to do that with.
Will I add on points in the future, Probably. But not too many. We bought so we could come and be in the magic about every two years, as we have done with our other timeshares for the last 14 years, (14 years, 10 trips). How does DVC compare. They win hands down. I've heard people complain about a long hallway.
How about getting stuck in traffic 10 miles out or not knowing if they''ll let you in a park on a high capacity day. Been there, done that.
Shopping outside of the world is ever worse than inside if you want Disney stuff. Every place we stopped seem to have the same 5 for $10 t-shirts and a ton of stuff you wouldn't dare give to anyone but co-workers. Does Disney sell the same merchandise in every store, sure:mrmouse: :mrmouse: :mrmouse: :mrmouse: . But, I'll be the first to admit that I, have more than once, been happy to find something I've been eyeing later in my trip at a different location.
The food is a different story and only because I am not used to eating at higher end places. So every such place I visit already has one strike against it, the price. You put a server in front of me that is inatentive or has had a bad day:mad: , strike two. So if the food is anything less than to die for, I would consider it a bad experience. My needs are simple, I want it all.
Sorry I've used comparisons in my reasoning, but I thought it was neccesary to be able to grade on a curve.
DVC = very very good;)

As a point of reference, what is the other timeshare in HH?
Thank you,

Adventure Inn. Mom bought it in 1987, with a 25 year ownership for $4,000. Two bedrooms/2 baths upper floor ocean view in a red week (Memorial Day week most years). We sold it when she died in 2004 for $800. The place was a glorified motel and hardly a resort.

I voted very good. The only thing I don't like about DVC is not being able to get a room when I want one. If it's my home, then isn't there are room there for me?

I love the flexibility of the system - banking & borrowing and the ability to book any number of days in any size unit.
I’m very disappointed in the cleanliness and maintenance issues of the DVC Resorts. This is the most important factor to me.
I’m very disappointed in Bell Services at Saratoga Springs. With more people using Magic Express they really need to increase the Bell Services staff at Saratoga Springs.
I’m disappointed in the lack of dining options at Saratoga Springs. Saratoga should have poolside dining option and a second restaurant like the other Deluxe resorts. Peak dining hours at Artist's Palette are ridiculous due to the volume of people, lines and poor setup within Artist’s Palette.

YES, and they absolutely need to have an attitude adjustment as well at SSR. I'd also add package storage to that...I had a gift delivered to friends we were traveling with...arrived back at their room at night, no gift. I checked UPS site online, package had been delivered around lunchtime, it was now after dark. Friend called up to front desk and was told, "Nope, no package for you." I marched on up to the front desk, was told the same thing, had them pull up the confirmation online. In 10 seconds, in other words, the very first place they looked, voila, there was the package.
We think sometimes they take the whole "Saratoga Retreat" theme a little to far in the fending for yourself aspects.
Anyway, I voted very good.
