Okay Here Goes, Best to my memory......

VWL: Dec 11-20,2006, 2BR Handicapped. The second shower drain never worked, nor was it repaired despite daily phone calls to the front desk. A call to the maintenance manager, a call to my DVC guide (who is still working on what went wrong here, she is great BTW, Kelly Jo Williamson). The resort was fully decorated for Christmas (Hey my wife is Christian!) and lovely. CMs were great, pool was great, slide was okay (not as good as OKWs). Full services available (pool Bar, Marina, Bikes, Hair Brading, all those expensive annoying carts. Enjoyed Artists Point/Palate (?). First introduction to ice wine, my do I now have an EXPENSIVE new addicition! Got a tree from the other boards tree sharing, was just wonderful, lights on the balcony, tree, ornimates, gifts, lots of Christmas spirit. Would go again in a heartbeat. Our new favorite time of year, "NO WAIT FOR ANY RIDE!" Came home with unused fastpasses! 2BR seemed small compared to OKW 1 BR!!!!! Had a 75 minute massage at DVC discount rate, locked kids up in cub den one night for a Mommy-Daddy date! Enjoyed the other restaraunt "Ketchup I need Ketchup" whatever its name is. Wifey has become a Disneyu nut now, and likes my BBS usage!?!?!?!? Wants to 'retire' to Disney for Nov-March in a 1BR, relatives for Holidays and Drive cross-country in an RV the rest of the time. Now I just need another 4500 points or so...... sigh

BWV: July 4thish 2006. HOT and CROWDED. Fireworks awesome, Character meals and High Tea were all awesome! Scary Clown pool was made much more friendly by meeting Mar' and idratherbeinwdw and some assorted (and attractive Daughters!) I wore lime green for the first and last time. DW convinced I'm insane with the love of Disney and the DISboards (shhhhhh don't tell anyone I said *THAT* word, nee!) Really liked the BWV, just classy, fun, lot of activities, good condition. 1 BR at BWV felt small when compared to the Laundry Room in an OKW 1BR. Really liked the boardwalk performers, bikes, EPCOT (which my kids hate), etc. Boardwalk and shops did absolutely nothing for me, JMHO, YMMV. Best communty center by far!

OKW: First trip home, sometime in april of this year. Never finished my trip report or started anotherbecause, well you all know me........
Awesome. We had our minivan (yeah I'm tough enough to drive a minivan!) parking was great, we were in building 13 (i Think) Directly across from the HH. Never heard a bus drive by! Just great. Loved the community center. This is my favorite for size, setting, atmosphere and of course value. I did get tired walking from the counch to the kitchen and then the fridge for cold beer, but soon, used ice bucket to keep cold beers at my side. Did get lost a couple of nights for night-time bathroom usage. The other guests were very understanding! :headbange

BCV and SSR are next. I'm not a shore person, but HH and VB willhave to be tried just once.

Well, being a ''newbie'' I've only stayed at 1-SSR.
I do plan on branching out and trying others (especially want to try BWV) but not until '07. Dad loves SSR so that's where where going in March. DBF is embarking on his 1st WDW adventure in Oct and I want him to see ''my place'' so we wouldn't even think of trying something other than SSR for that trip.

I seem to recall there were frogs, lots and lots of frogs, a dodge death mobile, a mother-in-law, round beds and NASCAR fans, or was part of that the second trip?

We rented points to stay at the BWVs which got us hooked into buying. We stayed last fall in a grand villa at OKW which was fabulously grand.

Next trip we're booked back at the BWV since that's home, but I would like to switch it to BCV to try something new, and because we'll be there in swimming weather, which isn't the norm for us.

We've also toured HHI, although we weren't staying there, and now I really really want to! We'll try them all because that's just the way I am. But it'll take a while, since we go once a year, if that.

heyyy - I remember the frogs!!! :)

Now....thinking back....the original "Where is greenban" thread....which started ALL the trouble...that was posted because you NEVER finished your trip report :holymoly: So....ultimately - the DVC Boards at Mouseowners is ALL YOUR FAULT TONY!

Our first trip was spring break 2005 - Old Key West - 2 studios (went with friends - they stayed in one and we stayed in the other) the 22 building which I would highly recommend for being within walking distance of the HH, but not a busy area with no quiet pool, etc.

SEcond trip, Dec, 2005 - SSR the Paddock area - I bedroom and we are RUINT I tell you - RUINT! It was beautiful and going back to a studio will be rather hard now that we have a baby along for the ride as well.

Our next two trips are a long weekend at HHI at the end of this month (great time to check out the area with point prices being SO low) and spring break 2006 in a GV at OKW with the same friends we traveled with last year!! WOOHOO - I can't wait!!! :jumpingbe

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! My worst fear!!!! I have to say I didnt see a frog, thank god, at OKW...I would have had to change resorts!!!!!!!!! Although I did have to convince chip126 that we had to stay on ANY OTHER floor besides 1st because I had heard of this nasty rumor there "might" be frogs in Florida. :teeth: Read "somewhere" that their stay at OKW had a frog in their room that had "spiderman"capabilities and freaked me out! :holymoly:

Well...some people are afraid of spiders or snakes for me...hippys! yikes!

Change of subject...:) Great report Tony appreciate all the details very nice indeed! :) Love the info on BWV...Cant wait to FINALLY get there! :)

Have stayed at
OKW
BCV
VB
VWL
BWV

SSR in under two weeks.

Here is my quick take on the resorts. Old Key West is #1 for its style, laid back atmosphere, value and villa size. Second is BCV, where we also own, for its location, SAB and overall theming of the BC/YC/BCV resorts. Third our list would be VWL again because of its location and exceptional theming. Don't own there (yet!)

There are none so far that we do not like. Have not been to HH. We will be at SSR later this month. But if we force rank them favorite to least favorite --

1. OKW - top DVC resort for us (tied with Poly and AKL as top WDW resorts)

2. BCV
3. VWL

4. VB
5. BWV

6. SSR
7. HH

The gaps are intentional. For example 2 and 3 are close in our minds but are clearly a different level from OKW. The resorts at the bottom are not bad, and I expect to enjoy stays at each in the future. But the attributes that put them at the bottom for us are location at HH (too far from the Disney action); and least interesting, loss of old DI at SSR.

I've been home three times so far, all to OKW:loveisint We stayed in a 2br, Oct 2004 with me, DH, DS, DS, DM, and DF. It was wonderful:grouphug: We stayed in 6211, might have been under a GV but we didn't have too much noise from upstairs!

Second trip: July 2005, mine and DH's 7th wedding anniversary. Had a 1br at OKW; it was beautiful and in the 29 bldg. We did have some very noisy studio neighbors one night, kept us awake in the middle of the night:headbange

Third trip: Dec 2005 in an OKW GV!!! What a treat! We had a wonderful time with DM and DF again to see Disney dolled up for Christmas. Saw CP and went to MVMCP, both firsts for us and we enjoyed them:D

HHI is next in Mar 06. I really would like to eventually visit them all but I still think I will like OKW the best!

Ooohhhh....good question.

Well.....my Disney and thus DVC addiction began with my in-laws who are just as crazy about WDW as my DH and I. They are original OKW owners (back when you got the park passes and it was just called The Vacation Club). So, having been invited many times to vacation with them, we've stayed at OKW more times than I can remember. Yes...we're spoiled LOL!

We then bought at BWV last year (realizing that we can't always vacation with them and anything other than a villa won't do...I'm such a brat). So we've stayed there once now.

We also visited VB and thought it was amazing. Actually had to restrain myself from buying an add-on. UGH! It was just so beautiful. But I'm really waiting for that AKL or Contemporary project ;). Gotta' hold out for the big ones!!!

We were at Beach Club Villas on opening day, and that was a very exiting thing. We have stayed again since then. Have stayed at OKW numerous times, and never been disappointed. It is perfect when we travel with my parents, since there is less walking for Mom. We visited Hilton Head a few summers ago, and it was wonderful despite not being in Orlando. Got to spend a night at Vero last summer in the middle of a WDW trip; loved it. Stayed at VWL twice. Loved it too! Every resort has its own character and joys.

No interest in SSR right now; would rather stay at OKW for less points. Similar lack of interest in BWV, would rather stay BCV and have access to the pool. We love the flexibility of DVC and at this point I have no desire to use the points anywhere but Disney!

We've only done DVC 3 times (BCV 2x, VB 1x)

BCV - Thanksgiving Week 2003 (first time home!) - 1bdrm Great first trip, everything was wonderful! I was very uptight because I had bought sight unseen and hadn't even been to WDW in 20 years.

AKL Con. & BCV - Presidents Week 2005 - 2 bdrm - Great combo and trip. Thought about going to VWL but Epcot area suited our plans better.

VB & Poly - Short "no kids trip" May 2005 - OVIR - Only 2 nights but it was great and we are going back with the girls.

Next up (if we don't cancel on Tues.):
Poly & VB - Presidents Week 2006 - 2 OVIR - 5 nights at VB to get out of the snow!

We've stayed at all 5 DVC on-site resorts and HH. I don't see us going to VB, just not interested. Pre-DVC we'd stayed at FW cabins (then they were trailer homes), ASSports, ASMusic, AKL, POR/Dixie Landings, POFQ, and WL.

We have stayed at OKW too many times to count and are going back in March. We have also tried BW and BVC. Would do BW again if it was just Dh and I, no kids. I would do BVC for a couple days and go to OKW the rest of the stay just to swim at SAB with kids.

I have been fortunate enough (and close enough) to stay at all the resorts except Hilton Head (even though that is where I bought my first 150 points).
I'll eventually get there, I suppose. Then again, being from SC it seems odd for me to go there. Maybe when I start golfing one day. :-)

I love all the others! Especially waking up to the rising sun at Vero Beach.:jumpingbe

All the best,

OKW (many times - our first love, I guess!)
VWL (our greatest love!)
BCV (Love SAB and closeness to EPCOT!)
BWV (where we own, yet our least fave - but we still love it, too!)
SSR (Loved the CMs here!)
HHI (whole family loved this one! Kids say it's the "friendliest place on earth"...)

And would LOVE to visit Vero in the future, but never enough time / points!

Upcoming trips:

Aug 2006: OKW (it's time to return to our old friend after 5 years visitng the other great places! 7 nts planned here...)

SUmmer 2007: Maybe Vero and/or HHI?

Summer 2008: BCV (because I PROMISED the kids BCV was "next"!)

I've stayed at OKW, BWV, BCV and SSR.

BWV and SSR are virtually tied for my favorite.

I like the furnishings better at SSR and even the style of the resort. But it's pretty cool being that close to the BoardWalk. Being able to walk down to the Bakery at 7:30 for some goodies and see Spaceship Earth in the background is a true Disney experience.

Until now my pattern has been to book BWV Standard View when available (gotta love saving those points) and SSR otherwise. By May I'll have made 3 stays at BWV and 2 at SSR. Maybe by then I'll have a clearer favorite.

We stayed one night at the Beach Club. No complaints, but I'm not as fanatical about it as others are. I'm not a big pool person--and the time we went was a cold December week. I'm sure we'll try it again down the road, but until then I'm happy to leave it to the others who have a greater love for the resort.

OKW was our introduction to DVC and I'm sure we'll be back again soon. Great resort. The only reason we haven't been there lately is we've been stuck in the pattern of wanting to try something different. Our first two trips--both with extended family along--were at OKW. As those same family members have come on subsequent trips, we've wanted to treat them to a different experience.

VWL is one I really have no desire to stay at. The whole "wilderness" theme just isn't my thing.

If I had to rank, it would go something like this:

1. SSR
1a. BWV
3. OKW
4. BCV
5. VWL

Don't know about VB and HHI. I'm sure we'll try both at some point, but after being members for less than 3 years, the siren song of the off-site resorts just isn't calling us yet.

We have stayed at OKW, VB, HH, BWV & SSR. We will be staying at BCV in 37 days and we are excited to try this resort.

I remember the first trip to OKW. We had a 2br at OKW and were staying with db, dsil and dn & dn. I remember walking into the villa and commenting that it was bigger than our house!! I loved the layout and someday will remodel my house in a similar fashion.

Love BWV for its atomsphere and the walk to MGM and Epcot. The first time we stayed there was ESPN weekend and it was perfect. Met Archie Manning (Eli and Payton's father in the elevator)

The time we stayed at HH I wrapped my sister's brand new Chevy Truck around one of the poles in the parking garage and we had to use a funnel to put gas into for the rest of the trip, which took us to VB then to SSR.

BCV our first purchase, and so far our favorite. We/ I have stayed there 6 times. On solo trips I'm in a studio, but my better half enjoys the one bedroom. Daughter and grandkids joined us once in a dedicated 2 bedroom. It was great!

SSR is our next purchase. We have had three visits so far. Can't say it is a favorite destination, although I would like a GV in Congress Park and have a little family reunion some day...

OKW: We sure do like this resort. Our first stay was quite by accident, we had booked at VWL but they assigned a smokers room. DW gets migraines from smoke and we declined to stay there.. We fell in love with the place and have been a guest there three times already!

BWV: For solo trips, a boardwalk studio overlooking the prominade can't be beat. I've done one solo, and DW and I have done a one BR twice, both boardwalk views. Although we like the location, the walk from the parking lot is a killer for us, not to mention the endless, endless hallways......

VWL: We love the lodge and the common areas in the Villa's. Not so crazy about the rooms, they seem heavy and dark. DW has never stayed, so we will try book it again in the future. I've stayed one day in a one br (they screwed up my hotel ressie and offered a one br to me).. and of course, our failed attempt to stay due to the smoke issue.. We live in Minnesota so pine trees and lakes are way too much like home, but we are going to give it another try someday.

AKV: First stay coming up in December! It's only a single night in a studio, but will give us a better idea if we should add on a couple points...

I've mainly stayed at SSR in a studio, although I did do one trip in a one bedroom. I've also stayed in a studio at OKW. I eventually want to try all of the ones at WDW, although usually for the times I go there isn't much availability (at least for a studio) at the 7-month window other than SSR and OKW. Once I get myself some more points and can stay in a one bedroom more often I suspect I'll have better luck. But I love SSR so I'm more than happy to stay there.

I'd also like to try HH someday. I don't see myself going to Vero though. Nothing wrong with it, but if I'm going to the beach, I'll go to NC or SC. I'd like to try HH because it is a destination I've always wanted to go to and it isn't far from Charleston which I would also like to visit. But I don't see going to Vero to go to the Beach.

I've tried them all and I'd say they all have good and bad features.

I'll rank them in order of my favorites to least favorites. This stuff is subjective so I won't bother or should I say bore anyone with the details. In the rare case that anyone really wants to hear my opinion I'll share that with those interested via pm.

Favorites first:

1) VWL

2) VB

3) BCV

4) OKW

5) BWV

5A) SSR (close, really BWV & SSR are about a tie now)

6) HH

I'll reserve reviewing AKV until the main body of the resort is completed. I've stayed at AK but the DVC section will have it's own unique features.

LOL Mel. :hahahaha: Yeah, I guess you can say I kinda like BWV. ;) I actually like the theming equally as much at some of the other DVC resorts. But I like the location of BWV and all there is to do in the area. Plus the closer I am to Off Kilter the better! :kilt

Has anyone stayed at them all? Which havent you stayed at yet but its on the top of your list? :)

Of course :-) Years ago I used to make sure I stayed at each one every year, but now I don't bother since there are some I just don't really like as well as others and can't see staying there just to say I stayed at them all. Once I stopped going to Vero each year, that was when I started just staying where I felt like.

I currently own points at OKW, HH, BCV & AKV - sold off the Vero points. I typically stay each year at BCV, AKV, BWV, OKW and Saratoga. I'd love to get back to HH, don't care about Vero, and would only take VWL if it was the only thing available for my dates. I don't dislike the VWL resort as much as I dislike the location. However, I'll try the Contemporary villas when they open, even though the location isn't any better.

SSR 1 & 2 bdrm - 5 times (our home resort and our favorite)
OKW GV - 1 time (everyone loved the spacious townhouse layout)
BCV 2 bdrm - 2 times (for the closeness to EPCOT & Cape May Cafe. Both times never got around to visiting SAB)

We like the WL lobby and boardwalk area but the villas themselves don't appeal to us so I don't think we'll be staying at VWL or BWV unless these were the only ones available.

We want to try Vero, AKL and perhaps HHI.
