View Full Version : Another DDP question...

Ok, so let's say we get DDP for family - that's 2 adults, one Disney-fied adult (our DS11), and 2 kids. SO we will receive, for each day of our trip, 3 adult TS, CS, and snacks, and 2 kid TS, CS, and snacks.

Can we LITERALLY use those as we please? Meaning - if we wanted to get, at one place, 5 kids' CS meals, could we? I don't know that we would do THAT, per se, but I could clearly envision that, for example, at ESPN, DS11 might want a kid's meal. If we go, for example, to Cosmic Ray's for CS, DS9 might just prefer the adult CS menu. On the other hand, there may be times I actually am fine with a kid's meal, LOL! The only places I can see the obvious need for using the exact "assigned" adult/child category would be buffets.

I am thinking that DS11, for example, would probably be fine with a kid's meal at LeCellier (I can't fathom him getting an adult's meal, appetizer, and dessert!) Would we be better off saving that adult TS and maybe using it for something else, another time? CAn we do that?

And here's a question - if my sister and her two teens join us at any point during our trip and we electe to let one of them use an adult TS or CS - can we do that? (i.e. give it away) ? They would not be staying with us, so they aren't obligated to buy the dining plan, but I could see where one of them could benefit more from the adult meal while we simply buy a child's meal for our ds11.

I am still kinda ticked about the whole 10=adult thing with the theme parks where dining is concerned. I can understand if they want to make it park-ticket applicable, and even, to a lesser extent, if they want to sap me for adult fare at a buffet... but charging a 10 or 11 yr old adult fare at some of these places (when they are very happy with a kid's meal) is a bit harsh.

And they wonder why American kids have eating problems!

There are reports on the DISBoards about folks being allowed to sign their older child up for the "kid" rate on the DDE, provided that child then eat from the kid menu. One woman called and mentioned her picky eater and the CM let her sign that child up as just that - -a child. You might check into that if your "junior" really would prefer the kid menu. As far as sharing, they might frown on you "giving the meal away" to someone at the table, but can certainly not prevent you from sharing. If we were at a table with family members not on the plan, we would certainly be sharing because that is what we do anyway. If your "junior" as an adult gets an appetizer, for example, there is no law re: who eats it. My daughter (11) is picky and eats very little, and the $39 a day is crazy when I think about how she eats. On the other hand, my Dad is a seagull and will eat everyone's leftovers so it's not like my daughter's food won't get eaten... by someone!

On the other hand, my Dad is a seagull ...

I don't mean to laugh, but, well, I did! :hahahaha: "My Dad is a seagull..." sure sounds like a Tag Fairy post to me, LOL!

When I call to order the DDP I'll inquire about ages, but what do you do about buffets? My understanding was that he would be considered adult. They can't give me a "split" of half adult - half child TS/CS credits. Lordy knows he will NOT eat an adult's portion, but I was under the impression they would charge him as if he could.

You are right; I didn't even think about the buffets. This must be a case of a CM doing something nice that wasn't really "legal."

Doesn't everyone's family have a "seagull?" We actually call my Dad "Scuttle" in honor of the seagull from Little Mermaid... I am actually guilty of being seagull junior... I have been known to pick at my hubby's or children's leftovers myself! :o I think that is why we so love the buffets at WDW... You get a little taste of everything. Even my picky kids eat well at Chef Mickey's!
