We spent last weekend at the Disneyland Resort staying at Paradise Pier. We have points from a cancelled vacation in a holding account and decided to use them up in grand style.
We booked a Concierge theme park view room and upon check in were told we had been upgraded to a suite. The suite on the 15th floor overlooked Disney's California Adventure. It had 2 full bathrooms, King size bed, 2 TV's and dvd players, microwave, coffee maker and 2 fridges. The main room had sofa and dining table. We didn't partake of the concierge lounge, which served a complimentary continental breakfast, and also wine and cheese in the afternoon, as we were to busy meeting up with our local Disney fan friends.
First day spent all day at DCA. The new Monster's Inc attraction in the Holllywood Pictures Backlot area is alot of fun. It replaced the Superstar Limo ride and uses the same track and vehicles. When we got home, I had to watch the movie again to see all the references to it in the ride.
Tower Of Terror was next, and then off to to San Andreas Shakes for diet breaking date shakes. As we were with 10 other people, we stopped and talked more than we rode attractions, but shut up long enough to see Block Party Bash parade, and partake in the dance lessons. And riding the Golden Zephyr as we were standing under it during the parade.
Off to Downtown Disney for dinner at the Jazz Kitchen, and then over to Disneyland to see Fantazmic. Still the best of the two versions in my opinion. Remember the Dream fireworks show on Main St. was next.
Tinkerbelll's new flight plan is amazing, as are the fireballs, lasers, and especially liked seeing the Matterhorn fire at the castle, and the castle firing back during the Pirates tribute. Even Journey To Inner Space was part of the show, and if I am not mistaken I think I heard the speil from Rainbow Caverns.
We forgot that we could take the monorail from Tomorrowland back to Downtown Disney and shorten our walk back to the hotel, but needed to walk off dinner.
The next day rode Monster's again, and Tower, and then over to Disneyland for lunch and then had to get home. It was a fun trip, as we hadn't gotten to the parks much this summer.
