Went to Disney over the holiday's and ended up taking one of the tours. In the process of making our final decision and have a question about trading opportunities.

Although WDW is a great place, we are also interested in visiting some of the other World Passport resorts. The rep informed us that a 2-bedroom during high season and World Passport resorts is 270 points so that is what we are considering purchasing.

My question is has anyone tried to trade to trade to World Passports resorts in places like Aruba, Jamaica, etc... during a peak time (ie: December)? If so, how was the experience? Were you able to find a place?

In general, is it difficult to trade?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

It is virtually impossible to get a 2BR trade anytime (because owners will usually rent out/deposit 1BR to pay their MF, then use the other half for their vacation), let alone during peak seasons. Your best bet would be to rent out or transfer your points, then use the $$ to try to facilitate a private trade on TUG. That's what we did. But don't count on being able to use the WP collection in that manner for a 2BR during peak season.

I have not used any of the trading side of the DVC, but have heard over and over again that using your points outside the 7 Disney resorts is a bad use of money as you can rent the points and pay cash for your other vacation plans and come out ahead.
