OK, now I'm starting to get serious about my SWW planning and looking at travel options. I'm debating driving vs. flying.

The best option as far as flying goes would have us leaving MCO around 6pm on 5/19. We would use DME and I'm guessing we would have to meet the bus around 3pm.

At the very least it looks like we would miss the parade. I've seen photos (as has my son) and the parade looks pretty cool. Is it one of those "something you really gotta see" experiences that would warrant us at least staying through the 20th?

The parade was neat but I wouldn't say it was don't miss....matter of fact is was more like if you blink you will miss it. It was pretty cool seeing all the characters at once but it was REALLY short. I wish it was a little longer but I think most of the people are volunteers so it might be tough to make it much longer.

Yup!

Thanks for the feedback, Stimpy. Do the Star Wars characters march as part of the Stars and Motor Cars parade, or is it a separate event?

Bummer! I thought it was a new parade, Snow White's Wedding, following along the lines of Cinderelabration!

May the fours be with you!

I didn't even realize that there was a seperate SWW parade. Our departure date is 5/19, and my DW may have to kill me to get me to leave that day.

I don't know that there is. That's what I'm trying to find out. I know that all of the characters in costume do march in a parade at some time during the day. But I'm not certain if it's part of the S&MC parade (which is scheduled for 5:30pm on 5/19) or if it might be a separate event. I tend to think it's either at the beginning or end of the daily parade since it would be a logistical nightmare to have people lining up at the curbs twice in the same afternoon.

All things considered, I'm leaning toward getting that 6pm flight on the 19th and just skipping the parade. I'm sure we'll see plenty of characters on that day as it is.

Sorry, Tony. Didn't mean to disappoint. I know you're a sucker for pretend weddings repeated 5 times daily (6 on Saturday.) Brings a tear to the eye, eh? :tearsaref

Actually, the SWW parade is a seperate parade and it is typically held at 11 am so I think you could catch it.

Would I call it a must see? No - but I don't think any of the parades are must sees so that shows you my slant. That said, we do usually stop and see it each trip, but we wont wait long for a spot. If none are available, then we would skip it.

Last year's parade seemed skimpy to me, but again, I think it was because of the lack of volume character wise through out the whole park due to III being promoted worldwide. The year before had more storm troopers, etc participating but my boys loved it both times.

Hopefully, since it is at 11 am you will be able to see it and then make it to MCO by 6.

Awesome! Thanks Laura.

The flight I'm looking at leaves MCO at 6:15pm. We'd be using DME, so we should be able to stay in the park until 2pm.

Woo-hoo! I love it when a plan comes together. :)

If you go to sww.mgmstudios.org there is a picture in the photo gallery from last year of the SWW times guide. It had character meet information as well as the time for the parade.
