For those of you who used to book annual passholder rates, the 'best rate program' which was rolled out mid 2005 has been changed, and it appears that the old AP program is back in place.
This means no more 60 day booking restriction, which certainly helps with last minute planning.
I'm glad that the big cheese listened to feedback!

This is great. I wonder if it will still be the "Best Rate Program" without the booking restrictions, or if they will begin releasing code again.

yeah!!!
I am a last minute trip taker and this plan was stopping those last minute trips (which might have been a good thing now that I think about it :P )
I was going to try for the end of March for a spring break game and was dreading doing it online, etc...so this is big news to me :cheerlead

It's huge for me - I don't think that I've EVER booked a trip more than 60 days out.
Apparently the regular booking rules apply ie cancellation 5 days before arrival for a full refund.....

Are we still able to book it on-line or do we have to call to book it?
Actually, now that I think about it, our next trip in May, I guess I will have to call since I'll only have the AP vouchers and not the actual AP's. Since our old AP's expired in December, I haven't been able to log-in to the AP site.
So I guess I should be asking if we can book it over the phone? And will I be able to use the voucher for the rate?

Where did you see this change? Was there an official announcement?
Thanks, John

Mary has a link to details on the homepage of www.mousesavers.com.
Also noteworthy is the fact that you no longer need to have an AP OR VOUCHER to book at the AP rates. You can book with the AP rate and buy your pass upon arrival.
To me it looks like the same old AP program they had before the "best rate" debacle began.

Oh, yea! I was just going to ask someone to walk me through the "best rate" thing, since I don't know what I'm doing with that. Now I will save you all the trouble.

Some sanity back - I would guess that bookings were down as people were not aware of the BRP rules and process so they trotted out the better older process again
The timing is a little bad since we were thinking of GF for the Mar 9th start of our trip but decided 1 day too late and went into BWV instead

Argh! I went with BRP for our Feb trip and now I have that terrible cancellation policy. We may need to cancel to, due family medical problems. I wish I could switch to the new code. I might call and ask.
Jaysue - I thought you were going to VB in March? I had noticed your sig not to long ago had VB - we are planning our first family trip there in Feb.

Hi Lisa!
We were going to VB - after our trip that we just returned from, DW decided she wanted to stay at WDW for the whole trip and some nights at AKL as well (Savannah view) :woohoodan
Cancelled the VB 1BR for 3 nights (was at the end) +146 points
Cancelled the BCV Studio for 3 nights (was at the start) +78 points
Booked a BWV 2BR for first 3 nights -190 points
Banked the 34 points into 06 UY - trying to make sure have enough points to be at WDW same time as lenshanem which would be first time in 3+ years at same time
Booked last 3 nights - AKL SV at BRP rate of $247 per night
I hope that all goes well for you and yours in 06 and for your trip
Best Regards

I'm happy to see the change, only wish it happened a couple months ago before we went to the Poly! Oh well, hoping this change stays for at least another year or so!

I just took advantage of the "new" old policy too for a couple of nights in March. :bouncingg

Congrats - where are you staying? (We are at AKL Savannah - wanted to do deluxe view or higher cat but the discounts were a flat $133 per night and I just did not see the value)
cheers

I agree. I don't think there is much advantage of doing the deluxe rooms at AKL unless you need a room for 5 (or concierge which is a different catagory).

Concierge is important if you want to do the sunrise or sunset safaris.

Good point JimC - the price difference was just too high - maybe for a value season visit I could justify
cheers
