Bavaria and Rozzie, what is up with SouthPoint not being quiet anymore? :( That has been my favorite area for years now, what is going on?

A lot of the trees are gone due to the bad hurricanes a few years ago. This means a lot more road noise. Last trip it was sooooooooo loud even though it was low season. I actually moved rooms before my friend joined me; when we were unloading her car, she stopped and said 'OH MY GOSH, WHAT is that NOISE?!" (she's a long time WDW visitor and former CM and she was shocked)

We also ended up on the testing ground for the new Pargo Race/Cars Attraction that they were testing, it seems. Those pargos run into the wee hours delivering luggage, and busses run along the road to/from DTD until wee hours.

I ended up moving to BC for the rest of my stay, it was so loud, and for my upcoming trip have again moved from OKW to BCV

I am saddened to hear that. Our last stay at OKW, March of this year, I think, was in the SouthPoint area, and I don't recall any noise issues at all, but then we were in one of the waterview buildings, so I don't expect there would be much opportunity there for road noise. If I don't request SouthPoint, I don't know where I would want to stay.

Bavaria, hope you are doing well, when you coming this way?

:bunny: hmmmm I see a meeting sometime in the future.... ;) Not in the next three months, but soon!!!!

Hopefully the Southpoint waterview rooms are still quiet; we weren't even close to the road and still found it noisy. I went for a walk one day while friend was working (yes, we both work on 'vacation') and was shocked by the roadway noise around Turtle Pond

I don't think that is why there is an HH booking category now; I think that people still like to be close to the main building (we don't care). But if HH now means quiet, I may start to book that if possible.

My BCV room was heavenly quiet, by the way......

That's why the waitlist fairy assigned me to BCV instead of BWV :bagovermy

there is alot of OKW that is not quiet any longer - miller road (still love it), old turtle pond road is very noisey these days.

instead of replanting the trees - Disney is letting the wild ones grow. It takes about 10 years - so in 2013 everything might be back to normal.

although this would be a great time to make a walking path to TL!!!

Sad to hear all this. We stayed in the South Point area last December, and it was still quiet on the waterway side. Our favorite buildings at OKW are 45, 46, 55, and 56. We didn't care for Turtle pond or building 29, and found both to be noisey.

Back in May we were in a ground floor studio in Building 54. I heard nothing from outside the room.

Last January we were on the ground floor in Building 20 (Miller's Road). I definitely can't recommended it because parking was scarce and we were on the bus turnaround. But other than the bus, I heard nothing there either.

We've also been in Building 35 twice and had a nice water view both times.
