Coming back for its 23rd year, the Emmy Award Winning ABC Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade will tape from Main Street, U.S.A. on December 1-3. This year promises to be bigger and better than the last, with new acts on the Castle Stage and Regis and Kelly back in the host booth in Town Square. And don't forget, in order to accomodate Regis' ego, the Town Square Christmas Tree will not be loaded until December 6."

Copied from "somewhere" :innocent:

We went to MK during one of the filming days one year- although not part of the taping- and it was a MADHOUSE! I will definately be avoiding MK on those dates!

Also what does "the tree will not be loaded" mean??? No tree till after the 6th???? I cant imagine they wouldnt have a decorated tree for the taping- ?????

Since Regis is there Dec 1-3 I can't figure WHAT would accommodate his ego by NOT being done until Dec 6. makes no sense to me.

As for madhouse...I think that the crowds are along Main Street and 'paid' by a free admittance ticket to be the 'crowd' fo rthe TV filming. Wouldn't htat mean that rides are pretty much open????? Just asking.

Also, are they all GONE at night, particularly late night hours? I can't let anything interfere with my Wishes viewling ya know!!!:jumpingbe

If I recall correctly, last year the tree was located off the path from the hub to Tomorrow land where the roses are. Then it was moved after the parade taping was done. Maybe this year they aren't going to bother with the move and just wait to put the tree in place until after the taping is done. Still don't see why it can't be done the night of the 3rd so that it would be there on the 4th. :idontgeti

Hey CB-

The day were went we were curious about the taping. We were there at opening and Main St. was a Zoo. Not only were the people there that were part of the filming but ALOT of people like me that wanted to "check it out" -

The ride lines were Lonnnngggg...everywhere.

Main Street was roped off and alot of neck stretching to see whats going on. Which was actually not much as the parade would stop- go- stop and go again. The poor cms kept having to hussle guests one way or another. I just wanted OUT!

Fluky thing happened when we were leaving as Regis and Kelly were being escorted up to where they were filming from. We practically ran them over trying to get out of MK. But the people just screaming and crying for Regis was like something I have only seen in old Beatles films! :ROTFL:

Well I was curious and I know we will avoid MK during the day during filming. Not sure about the evening hopefully it will be cleared out a bit as I know how you love your Wishes!

Just my observations! :)

Ok, if the tree isn't there that will just suck!!.

I will complain.

I am just as important as he is and I want it there, so they should accomodate me :)

Total Bummer, I was planning on doing some good ole' MK time the weekend the meet starts. Oh well. Guess I'll spend the weekend getting drunk at Epcot. :slyasafox

Let's just say if they do anything around Regis' ego, I'll be pretty steamed. No one should have that much power over holiday decorations.

MRs. B&G and I decided last night to re-wicker our plans to avoid the MK those days. She was more inclined to go "check it out," but I convinced her it would be more trouble than it was worth. Plus, we'll have our arms full with 14 month old DD, who will not want to stay put for hours along the "parade" route.

I almost decided to 'check it out' last year, as I was there during the filming.
If Captain Jack had been in Regis' chair, I would have gone for sure.
But like jiggerj said...this is like a movie set...stop and go with more stop than go, so that it can be filmed, edited and 'made for tv'. I'd guess most of the people there wnat to get on TV and have their 2 seconds of fame.

B & G: definitely NOT the place for a baby.

I remember seeing the sign posted re the filming, so perhaps I went in one day after the filming...I didn't see any cameras and I sure didn't see Regis. Can't remember if it was crowded or not, but if it was, I would have just left.

Between this and MVMXP, it IS going to crimp my wishes style and I'm going to have to figure something out to get my fix!

Ugh, avoiding the MK those days! I remember years back going to the MK when they were taping the Easter parade (yes...wayyyy back :lmbo: ) and it was a nightmare!) I'm going to have to replan everything again.

The only thing I HAD to do besides the meets I signed up for was see the new HM and now I don't know when I can fit it in :crymeariv

I am not so sure that's going to help. Some folks might leave, but I have a feeling plenty will stay from the day (as they more than likely didnt go on many attractions since they were on the parade route most of the day). The EMH nights are usually packed anyway, and I think this one could easily be worse than usual.

I'm not going to the MK until the 4th, huge crowds make me want to shoot myself--or someone else! :beaniepro (kidding!! I own no firearms-- unlike some frogs I know :)).

If I was really honest, I'd admit I really haven't planned a thing besides the meet stuff. Guess I need to crackin'. :Paranoid:

So does that mean that Dec 3 it will be open to 1am and no parade tapings?

Actually, re late night Mk....a lot of people who DONT go think that it is really crowded at night, but I go all the time to the late nights and at MK after the fireworks, nearly everyone leaves. There have been nights when I was the ONLY person watching the Kiss goodnight and I've never had a line on any ride when I've been there after 10:00 or so...it's like having the whole park to yourself. If it isn't cold (this coming trip) , I think Dec 3 will be no lines and lots of fun!

Sounds awesome, I had a lot of fun the night you, me and Tammy stayed for the kiss goodnight...Only problem is, we'll all be up late at Jelloyrolls that night, right? Or did I get my nights mixed up again?:upsidedow

Athenna,

Since it is Jiggerj's daughter's 21st birthday, I plan on doing Jelly's that night to help her celebrate!!!! But if I'm still feeling frisky at 11:30 or so, I might grab you and Tammy and whoever else likes late night MK and jump in my car and drive on over to do a few rides and the kiss.

Nightowls are welcome to join!
