Recreation Schedule
Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort takes great pride in offering a rich schedule of activities on and off the resort for guests of all ages. Many will require advanced registration and some do have a modest fee attached.
Upon check-in guests are presented with the daily activity schedule and urged to sign up right away for the activities of interest. Guest cannot register prior to check-in. Some offer supervised activities for younger children to give parents a chance to take on their own plans. Sign up for all activities occurs at the Recreation Window near the main resort pool.
The activities offered and schedule are adjusted weekly, making it difficult to plan specifics in advance. Following is an example of the HHI activity schedule:
Activity Schedule
Following is a brief summary of selected activities which may be found on the HHI activity schedule:
Arts and Crafts
Younger children and families will enjoy the various arts and crafts, with the most popular being Gyotaku, where participants apply paints to an actual fish (dead and frozen of course) and “print” the image upon a t-shirt. It makes a great souvenir!
Pizza Party
Kids ages 7 and up are offered a pizza party and night at the movies with the Cast Members, game time and other excursions.
Naturalist
The whole family can take part in a number of excellent excursions with the resort’s Naturalist who helps explain the beauty and importance of the resort's surroundings. The resort’s other special “character” is B’Lou Crabbe who entertains with a variety of magic shows, ghost stories, sing alongs, scavenger hunts and offers a chance to meet the resorts mascot, Shadow. B’Lou will also explain how Shadow’s paw prints got into your villa!
Campfire
A highlight of the weekly schedule is the Campfire. This is often held two or three nights a week. Cast Members will lead you in an hour long sing along followed by ‘smores. This is one event you don’t want to miss. Besides, where else can you learn the Cheeky Cheeky Dance?
Fireworks
During the summer there is a fireworks display right off the resort every Tuesday night! Wednesday is traditional Member’s Day when members can receive a 10% discount on most fee-based activities.
Boating
The resort does contract some activities through local vendors, such as a dolphin cruise, beach combing excursion and kayaking. These services are top-notch and highly recommended. While you can usual find a competing service in the yellow pages, their fees will not be much different and you will most likely need to travel away from the resort to use their services.
Fishing / Biking
In addition, at the resort you can rent fishing gear and bikes (with helmets and lock) by the day or for the full length of your trip. Bikes cost $10 per day or $50 for the entire length of stay for the first two bikes with $10 for each additional bike. Thus for a five-day stay, four bikes will cost $70. The resort and the island are very bike friendly. Many guests will also take their bikes to the beach during the low-tide when the wide beaches offer an exceptional chance to explore 12 miles of oceanfront.
